Actual Acquisition Date for Migrated Fixed Assets: What You Must Know

This Actual Acquisition Date for migrated fixed assets feature is available in 10.0.46 version.

Purpose

This feature introduces a new field called Actual acquisition date to record the original acquisition date of fixed assets that are migrated from legacy systems. It helps organizations maintain historical asset information after data migration.


Overview

When assets are migrated from a legacy system, the Acquisition date in Dynamics 365 may represent the migration date rather than the asset’s original purchase date.The Actual acquisition date field allows users to capture the true historical acquisition date of the asset for reference purposes.


Business Benefits


  • Maintains historical accuracy of asset records after migration.

  • Improves audit trail and reporting visibility.

  • Separates system acquisition date from the original purchase date.

 

First, User needs to enable Actual Acquisition Date for migrated fixed assets feature in feature management.



Go to Fixed assets > Fixed assets > Fixed assets.


Select fixed asset and click on Books on action pane.



Once enabled Actual Acquisition Date for migrated fixed assets feature, in this page user can find two new options, Migrated asset toggle button and Actual acquisition date.



If user wants to add Actual acquisition date, click on Edit.



Enable Migrated asset toggle button.



Once user enables migrated asset toggle button, Actual acquisition date field is enabled to add actual acquisition date.

Enter Actual acquisition date and click on Save.



Note: The Actual acquisition date is for informational purposes only and does not affect depreciation, as depreciation and accounting calculations continue to be based on the Acquisition date field.
